18 in 2018: Celebrating 18 years in Portland
Today marks Action Employment’s 18th birthday and there are a lot of wrapped presents sitting in our conference room right now. That’s because we are celebrating! At Action, we like to celebrate; it’s the culture we’ve built over the years. We celebrate each other’s successes, from big wins to our daily accomplishments, but today marks something a little more special. We are celebrating the progress and achievements that have helped make Action an enduring and successful local staffing agency in Portland, Oregon.
Ignoring the ominous date, Marianne Moore, President, began Action Employment on Friday the 13th on a wintery December day in 1999, and it’s a good thing she did. Marianne had been in the staffing agency business for 12 years with clients throughout the Pacific Northwest when she decided it was time to start her own business. She doubted she had the entrepreneurial spirit to open up her own agency, but Marianne’s mom, Ann, saw passion and gusto in her daughter, and encouraged her to start Action. With her strong ideas and over a decade of experience in talent acquisition, Marianne began Action with the goal of creating long term relationships based on integrity, teamwork, and a supportive office culture.
Throughout the past 18 years, Action Employment has weathered some intense moments in the US economy, including Y2K, 9/11, the Great Recession, and yet, we have remained strong. That’s because hard work, clear communication, and no BS is our moto. We strive to cultivate long lasting relationships and friendships, and there is nothing more we love than helping our candidates and clients find the best fit.
It’s been a wonderful ride and here’s cheers to 18 more!
